I really do like this case, it has a good texture and is pretty light so you can still fit your archos in your pocket. The only thing that bugged me about it was that the battery add-on doesn't fit on over the case.

This product keeps your Archos5 snugged in, protected, and in place when you want to use your Archos5 on kickstand mode (with built-in leg stand). My only concern is keeping the screen safe as well.

I've got a 250GB Archos 5, and have bought four different "carry/protection" items for it. I've purchased what's essentially a small camera bag (complete with velcro subdividers) which works nicely if a want to take along some of my accessories (charger, DVR snap-in, etc). I've got this thing (which is great if I'm just sticking it into a coat pocket and setting it on the desk at work), a Gomadic belt pouch (probably my most commonly-used item, but the side-panels cover the side controls and bottom slots, at least partially... so this is really for ease of carrying only), and a Tuff-Luv POUCH (as opposed to this skin) which is great, and would be my favorite if it had a belt-clip.

As for THIS item, well... it's very thin, but very effective for protection (from sliding, from vibration and shock, and from scratches). It fits the Archos 5 (120GB/250GB) perfectly... so you can totally disregard the silly post earlier which inferred that it doesn't fit at all. If you can't be troubled to buy the right skin for the right device, it's not anyone's fault but your own. The skin is a PERFECT fit for my Archos in every way.

It's inexpensive, and works well. I recommend it... if you want to carry it in a "soft" place (a jacket pocket or a purse pocket without any hard "bangles" to come into contact with the screen). If you need to protect your screen, you might want to consider something else.

I like it. I didn't want any cover that would only add to its size like JAVOedge Archos 5 Leather Case (120/250 GB) Black. This skin is much thinner and thus allows you to put it in your pocket better. It feels pretty smooth, and when you take it out you don't have to open a flap that can block your view all the time. It is a little loose though. I have the Archos 5 160 GB.

6.) Sloppy "fit" and no hole for the headphone jack

It is the right size, but there are too many cut outs for it to fit properly. The cutout for the stand is a long and wide slit all the way down one back corner and across part of the bottom, which means that one end has just a small strap holding it on. There are two large unused holes in the top that make it even more sloppy fitting -- yet it doesn't have a hole for the headphone jack! The cutout for the volume control doesn't line up properly, even when the case is pushed and held into the proper shape. I feel like I just flushed ~$23 down the toilet, I am going to try to return it, but it was shipped from the UK and it is going to cost a fortune to ship back.
